Yesterday, Google’s latest announcement to add more details, charts, data and more search terms in Google Webmaster Tools is something that every website owner always longs to have. Though its interface is more or less similar to that of Google Analytics, it contains some awesome features that are drastically different from it:
Impressions, Clickthrough & Clickthrough %
Thanks to this update, Google Webmaster Tools has become more features rich than ever. Previously, website owner could only get a glimpse of the top performing keywords/queries and nothing else. But now, they will be able to get a detail report on each search query by clicking on it. A breakdown report will feature the total number of impressions, clickthroughs and clickthrough rates that are closely associated with a particular search query.
Now, if you want to make the most of these features, you need to have a fair idea of these terms. Impressions are the number of times a website appears in a given query, whereas Clickthrough is the number of times a particular page of a website is clicked by the searchers.
Besides that, you can track the pages that had ranked in those particular search queries. Google has declared that, it will in the due course of time increase the amount of data and therefore, website owners will have more options in coming days that will definitely prove helpful to get a detail report of their websites.
Not just top 100 queries
Previously, users of Google Webmaster tool could only get detail report of top 100 queries but now, they will not have to face this constrain. A new pagination button is added at the bottom of Top Search Queries table to make it possible for the users to check those queries, which are not in list of top 100.
Visualisation
No longer you will have to download data of your website to prepare report; new features have been added to facilitate this task. Charts and other data can now be viewed right within Google Webmaster Tools. A date range sector table is also included in the Top search queries chart that can prove immensely effective if you want to track the performance of your website in certain keywords within a given period of time.
